Sacred Sun OPzV Battery Won Telecom Tender in Nigeria

Recently, Sacred Sun has successfully won a bid in the Hybrid PV BTS in Nigeria. Sacred Sun will supply 19200pcs Tubular Gel Batteries (OPzV batteries) for 800 sites. This is the second time for Sacred Sun’s OPzV series battery to be largely applied in Nigeria’s telecom. Sacred Sun OPzV series battery adopts German tubular pure gel technology, its key raw material and production equipment are imported from Europe. All of these have ensured its superior service life, excellent reliability, good cycling performance and charge acceptance ability, and therefore enable it to be used in harsh temperature environment, poor power condition, pure cycle use solar energy systems, and wind power communication base stations.

Sacred Sun has made its appearance at SNEC 2015

 On April 28-30, SNEC ninth (2015) International Solar Industry and Photovoltaic (Shanghai) Exhibition and Forum was held in Shanghai New International Expo Centre, more than 1,500 PV enterprises from home and abroad in more than 60 countries and regions has visited. As a leader in solutions for the energy storage system, Sacred Sun has made its appearance with a full range of new energy technology products, attracted many customers, experts and participants stopped to exchange.

    At the exhibition, Sacred Sun has showed a new energy storage product---FCP lead carbon battery, which could reach 4200 cycles at 70% DOD. This product will be widely used in large-capacity storage systems, to provide more competitive product solutions for the commercial development of new energy storage market. Sacred Sun has also exhibited other energy storage products, such as GFMJ series, OPzV tubular gel series, GFMU series, etc.

    Sacred Sun has also showed the sand table model of PV systems, which could intuitively show the customized PV energy storage system to the participants. The PV system could provide system solutions such as solar power, wind power, electric vehicle charging, distributed power generation, emergency power supply, wind and solar hybrid new energy communications base stations, centralized energy storage, etc.

Flow Battery

 Flow battery belongs to ordinary chemical battery. Its utilization rate of active materials is improved through storing positive electrolyte and negative electrolyte separately.

      Due to the limit of materials and the concentration of the electrolyte, the flow battery didn’t achieve high energy density in past years. It can be applied in energy storage power stations, but not available on vehicles.

     Recently, Dr. Yet-Ming Chiang, scientist of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has invented a semi-solid lithium flow battery. He has made innovations on material and electrolyte concentration, which enables the battery to reach applicable level on energy density and power density. This battery is still in the laboratory stage.

    NanoFlowcell AG has launched an automobile with flow battery, which seems have reached very high energy density in accordance with its technical index. However, its facticity remains to be verified.

    Compared with previous hydrogen fuel battery and metal fuel battery, flow battery is more feasible. Once the laboratory technology enters into mass production period, it will change the electric vehicle industry dramatically. With flow battery, electric vehicle could run further, become cheaper, and charge faster (charge through power grid or replace electrolyte).

Aluminum-Air Battery

 Aluminum-air battery is also a kind of fuel battery. The “charging mode” of aluminum-air battery is replacing aluminum materials. It is similar to the Zinc-air battery used in hearing aids.

    Aluminum-air battery, a kind of metal fuel battery with high energy density and low power density, can be widely applied in facilities with low power. The only way to apply it on electric vehicle is to use it cooperatively with lithium battery.

    In view of its active chemical property, it is difficult to ensure its security and stability. Therefore, it is still in experimental stage.

    In addition, aluminum-air battery is also confronted with the problem of industrial chain. Both zinc-air battery and aluminum-air battery follow the following circulation:

    1. Metal manufacturer prepare metal through electrolyzing metallic oxide;

    2. Transferring metal to electrical changing station;

    3. Replacing metallic oxide in electric vehicle with metal (metal becomes metallic oxide after discharging);

    4. Metal manufacturer recycle metallic oxide for reutilization.

   In this process, a complete industrial chain is needed, from manufacturing, transportation, replacement, to recycling. Is it possible to build electrical changing stations all around the country?

   As a result, even aluminum-air battery enters mass production period, it can only be applied to vehicles with fixed electrical changing stations, such as city buses and taxis. Just like hydrogen fuel battery, it’s really difficult to achieve overall popularization.

High Temperature Battery Assists the Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction

• High-temperature (HT) valve-regulated lead acid batteries manufactured by Sacred Sun are specially developed for standby power-supply systems and energy storage systems in high temperature environment. With excellent properties such as high temperature resistance, long service life, and reliability, HT batteries can be applied in BTS with environment temperature above 30 ℃ all the year round, BTS with frequent power failure, BTS in remote areas, solar energy storage systems, and wind energy storage systems.

      In BTS with HT batteries, the temperature of air conditioners is improved from 25 ℃ to 35℃. After tracing the energy-saving effect of HT batteries in BTS for 1 year, we have found that the annual average electricity-saving rate of stations with high-temperature batteries has reached 63.9%.

      We assume that the air conditioner power consumption of the 3 three operators (China Mobile, China Telcom and China Unicom) is 30 billion kwh/year, then they can save 9.5 billion kwh/year. On account of the above data, HT batteries have demonstrated remarkable economic benefit and social benefit.

Capacity of Global Distributed Energy Storage Systems May Increase by 10 Times in Future 3 Years

    In accordance with data from Navigant Research---a well-known American market research firm, the capacity of global distributed energy storage systems will achieve 276 MW by 2015.

    With the increasing support from governments and increasing energy storage demands from grid operators and electric power companies, the capacity of global distributed energy storage systems may increase by 10 times and up to approximately 2400 MW by 2018.

    The report also pointed out that influenced by the rapid development of battery technologies, the distributed energy storage market will also see rapid growth in recent years. Meanwhile, the popularization of PV, EV, EV charging stations, and household energy networks will generate new demands for distributed energy storage systems.

    It is expected that by 2024, the capacity of global distributed energy storage market may increase to 12,000 MW. However, to achieve this objective, researchers must overcome difficulties on cost control, software development, control system design, and integration technology optimization.
