Caring donation-Sacred Sun donated security knowledge books to Yanzi primary school

  To popularize security knowledge of primary and middle school students and promote the healthy growth of teenagers,Sacred Sun representatives made the gift of books to Yanzi elementary school students on December 7th, 2015. The book is titled’ security knowledge reading for primary and middle school students’ and the total amount of the donated books is more than 300 copies.

Transparent solar cells

 In August last year, researchers at the University of Michigan have invented a completely Transparent Luminescent Solar Concentrator (TLSC), which could transform any window or a piece of glass (e.g. smart phone screen) into a photovoltaic solar cell. Recently a startup Ubiquitous Energy of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) perfects the technology closer to market applications.

    At present, the energy efficiency of TLSC prototype is only about 1% and should be able to rise to 10% when put into production predicted by the researchers, compared with traditional opaque concentrator which is only 7%. Although the efficiency is not high, it can add up if installed in every household or office building for a large scale application. Although it may not be able to make your smartphone or tablet for infinite life, it can prolong their service time several minutes to several hours if TLSC screen used.

Graphene is entering people's life from the lab

“There will be a tremendous need for new materials in the future on account of their widely applications, such as new material nano-grapheme could be applied in chemical fire when water could not be used to put out. Mobile phones may be as thin as hotel room card in the future if the new material graphene adopted.’’ said by weijie, a professor at college of Economics & Management, Tsinghua University.
Recently, more than 20 types of graphene have been showed at China international graphene innovation conference 2015 held in Qingdao, such as graphene physiotherapy, thermal products, LED with high thermal conductivity of graphene composites, graphene bulletproof material, graphene electric heating clothes, etc.

Looking ahead to 2017, IHS predicts that ITC’ cut in the end of next year in America is likely to affect global PV growth, meanwhile, the quantity of solar PV panels that expected to be installed will suffer a decline of 7.8 GW caused by the utility scale project development in 2017.

The age of clean energy is coming

Commercial wind power was born in the late 1970s, and after the year 2000, developed countries such as Denmark and America entered into the growth period of wind power. Currently, it is believed that by the year 2020 or 2030, the wind power industry will enter outbreak period, and so does photovoltaic (PV) power generation. In 1986, America has built the first PV power station in the world, and after 30 years’ development, the global PV industry has entered growth period at present. If we predict in accordance with China's average annual growth of 30%, PV industry will enter outbreak period by the year 2030 or 2040.
The annual solar radiation energy to the earth equals to the energy generated by 116 trillion tons of standard coal, while total energy consumed by all humans in 2014 equals to the energy generated by 20 billion tons of standard coal, which is less than 2/10000 of the annual solar radiation energy.
That is to say, as long as we cover the Sahara desert which account for one percent of the earth's surface with photovoltaic solar panels, the generated energy could satisfy the energy demand of all humans by 2050 (consider factors such as solar photovoltaic panels’ power generation efficiency and illuminate angle).

So why we need to excavate fossil fuels that require hundreds of millions of years to form if we can get electricity by covering solar panels ? Clean energy could purify our life greatly. We human beings should have enough confidence to get rid of the dependence on fossil fuels by 2050.

Lithium-sulfur Battery

     Lithium-sulfur (Li/S) battery is a kind of rechargeable battery adopts lithium as negative electrode and elemental sulfur as positive active material. The theoretical specific capacity of its positive electrode is expected to reach 1675mAh/g, and the theoretical specific energy of the Li/S battery is expected to reach 2600Wh/kg. Its achievable practical energy density may reach 750Wh/g.
    In accordance with the report published at Phys.org on January 13th, 2015, the new material discovered by chemistry professor Linda F. Nazar and her research team could maintain the stability of Sulfur cathode, which is the major obstacle in the research of lithium-sulfur battery. Theoretically, the running time of lithium-sulfur battery is 2 times longer than that of ordinarylithium ion battery at same weight. What’s more, it’s cheaper than lithium ion battery.
     In July 2010, lithium-sulfur battery produced by Sion Power is applied on an American unmanned solar plane, which has attracted the attention of the public. Part of the electricity generated at daytime is stored in the lithium-sulfur batteries and discharged at nighttime. The unmanned solar plane has flown 14 days continuously.

Telecommunications Base Station Power Supply System

India continues to ramp up interest in ESS technology

India signalled its growing interest in energy storage systems during a week when its prime minister visited Tesla and a firm unveiled a new lead-acid battery.
During a tour of the US firm’s automotive campus, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed interest in Tesla’s Powerwall, especially for India’s remote rural areas.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs said the main takeaway was the technology behind long-term storage batteries, and Modi had been ‘very keen’ to see how India could use the battery technology to ‘leapfrog development in India’, claimed the website.
Tesla began shipping its 7kWh Powerwalls to pilot customers in North America, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Australia this week.
Meanwhile Relicell has launched a proprietary gel-based maintenance-free battery, designed for renewable energy storage, especially for home use in India’s punishing weather conditions.
Relicell is the battery brand of Greenvision Technologies, an energy storage solutions firm headquartered in Bangalore, India.
The batteries use a lead-calcium-tin-silver alloy, a synthetic separator with phosphoric acid added to the electrolyte to improve life cycle.
The batteries are available in 12V, 35 Ah to 12V and 200 Ah options and come in three variants: Solar Gel for solar applications, Ultra Gel for home inverters and deep cycle UPS applications.
Founder and Managing Director of Greenvision Technologies Biju Bruno said: "The largest adoption of these batteries is likely to be in home inverters and solar energy storage devices, while batteries used to store solar energy will be able to operate under very hot conditions and even in a state of partial charge."
Back in August ACME Cleantech Solutions launched the first power back-up storage solution in India. The lithium-ion-based EcoGrid Energy Storage System was designed for homes and small commercial units.
At the start of the year, US energy storage system developer SunEdison moved into the Indian market when it bought 1,000 Imergy Power Systems ESP 30 systems.


SunEdison bought the vanadium flow battery technology to build microgrids to store solar energy in rural India. SunEdison aims to develop 5,000 microgrids by 2020 to store solar energy for 20 million people, with the first 1,000 to be developed within three years.

China sees rise in Pb-A battery imports, but exports storm ahead

    Shanghai Metals Market has reported that China imported 695,200 lead-acid batteries in July, increasing 26.1% compared with June with an increase of 11.7% year on year.
    According to China Custom’s previous report, China has imported 4.29 million lead-acid batteries, fell 6.3% year on year compared with the first half of the year, and then sees rise.
    Compared with imports, exports rise to 19.96 million in July, increases 17.07% month on month and 14.6% year on year, an India-based Scrap Register reported. 
    It is estimated that the production of lead-acid battery in China accounted for 30% of world output.
   The Chinese Ministry of Finance claimed that a 4% consumption tax will be levied on lead-acid batteries from January 1 next year, which will generate greater pressure on domestic manufacturers and therefore lead to a reduction of production.
   Chinese government promised to shut down lead-acid battery factories and secondary lead factories with ‘backward production capacities’ by the end of 2015 in one of its reports.

Will sodium-ion battery replace Li-ion battery?

    Not satisfied with changing the appearance of lithium battery, John Goodenough, father of Li-ion battery, has now organized an international team of scientists at the University of Texas, US. Currently, the team has claimed that the mineral eldfellite ( NaFe(SO4)2) could be regarded as a potential cathode for sodium-ion battery. This significant discovery has been published on an online Journal called Eldfellite. The title of the paper is “NaFe(SO4)2: Embedded Cathode for Low-cost Sodium-ion Batteries”.
    Eldfellite (NaFe(SO4)2) is composed of Na+ layers and Fe3+ layers, and is separated at a fixed distance by SO42-polyhedral. 80% of the material’s theoretical maximum specific capacity might be achieved because the fixed spaces allow the diffusion of sodium ions.
    Preetam Singh, a scientist of the research team, said that the problem at present is the size of the sodium ion, because the sodium–sodium interaction is much stronger than Lithium-Lithium interaction. If they simply duplicate li-ion technology by directly replacing lithium with sodium in the chemical structure of cathode and electrolyte, favorable ratio performance will not be achieved.
    Li-ion batteries bring us convenience, such as mobile phones and electric vehicles. However, the limited supply of lithium has caused the high cost of li-ion batteries and 
EVs, and has confined the application of the technology.
    In view of the deficiency of lithium, researchers are trying to solve the problem through replacing lithium with sodium, for sodium-ion battery could also reach 100% discharge rate and is safer than lithium-ion battery on transportation.
