Progress of Sacred Sun’s Lithium-ion Battery

  • In view of the fierce competition of Lithium-ion battery in the communication market, reducing cost and lowering price is the only approach to consolidate and increase our market share. To achieve the objective of cost reduction and meanwhile improve the property of our Lithium-ion battery, we have made great achievements in the following aspects:
    1. Dry blending technology is applied in powder mixing process to shorten ingredients preparation time and improve the uniformity and adhesion of plates;
    2. Dispersion technology of pigment industry is brought in to achieve the molecular-level dispersion of paste;
    3. Roughen the surface of the aluminum foil (positive electrode) and copper foil (negative electrode) to improve the adhesion of paste and foils, and thereby prolong the service life of batteries;
    4. Adopt LiFePO4 made from iron oxide red craft instead of LiFePO4 made from iron oxalate to reduce cost;
    5. Adopt ovens with high vacuum degree to shorten the drying time of plates and meanwhile make sure the property of products.

High Temperature Battery Assists the Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction

  • High-temperature (HT) valve-regulated lead acid batteries manufactured by Sacred Sun are specially developed for standby power-supply systems and energy storage systems in high temperature environment. With excellent properties such as high temperature resistance, long service life, and reliability, HT batteries can be applied in BTS with environment temperature above 30 ℃ all the year round, BTS with frequent power failure, BTS in remote areas, solar energy storage systems, and wind energy storage systems.

        In BTS with HT batteries, the temperature of air conditioners is improved from 25 ℃ to 35℃. After tracing the energy-saving effect of HT batteries in BTS for 1 year, we have found that the annual average electricity-saving rate of stations with high-temperature batteries has reached 63.9%.

        We assume that the air conditioner power consumption of the 3 three operators (China Mobile, China Telcom and China Unicom) is 30 billion kwh/year, then they can save 9.5 billion kwh/year. On account of the above data, HT batteries have demonstrated remarkable economic benefit and social benefit.

Capacity of Global Distributed Energy Storage Systems May Increase by 10 Times in Future 3 Years

    In accordance with data from Navigant Research---a well-known American market research firm, the capacity of global distributed energy storage systems will achieve 276 MW by 2015.
    With the increasing support from governments and increasing energy storage demands from grid operators and electric power companies, the capacity of global distributed energy storage systems may increase by 10 times and up to approximately 2400 MW by 2018.
    The report also pointed out that influenced by the rapid development of battery technologies, the distributed energy storage market will also see rapid growth in recent years. Meanwhile, the popularization of PV, EV, EV charging stations, and household energy networks will generate new demands for distributed energy storage systems.
    It is expected that by 2024, the capacity of global distributed energy storage market may increase to 12,000 MW. However, to achieve this objective, researchers must overcome difficulties on cost control, software development, control system design, and integration technology optimization.

Industrial Energy Storage Solution of Small-Sized Monolithic Tubular Gel Battery

  • The industrial energy storage solution, developed by the Technology Center of Sacred Sun, is specially designed for the new energy storage systems of small scale industrial consumers, business customers and private household customers. In most cases, the system is cycling at uncontrollable PSOC state. After partial discharging, batteries may experience a fully recharge, but this fully charging state happens once in a blue moon in such kind of systems. The major advantage of this system is that it could keep running at PSOC state in a long period.
    6V&12V OPzV tubular gel batteries (conform to DIN standard) are applied in this system.
    Compact and modularized system design has largely facilitated the installation and maintenance of the system.
    Currently, Sacred Sun is the only Chinese lead acid battery manufacturer who can manufacture all 2V, 6V, and 12V OPzV tubular gel batteries, so it stands for the most advanced level of tubular gel batteries in China.

Technical Characteristics of Pure Lead Battery

  • In pure lead batteries, the positive and negative grids are made of pure metallic lead, without any grid alloys. To solve casting problems of pure lead and improve the mechanical strength of pure lead grid, special technologies and equipments are needed in manufacturing.
    Major technical characteristics of pure lead batteries are as follows:
    (1)Pure lead ingots are first made into lead belts, then stamped into grids.
    (2)Crystal lattices of pure lead grids are extremely compact, and therefore largely improve the corrosion resistance of grids.
    (3)Super-thin plates are adopted in pure lead batteries.
    (4)Except metallic lead, all other high purity materials have adopted high purity materials.
    (5)The manufacturing of pure lead battery is controlled by fully automatic robots.

Sacred Sun: Energy Storage System of FCP Lead Carbon Batteries will Assist the Development of Energy Storage Industry

On March 16th, 2015, the second working conference of “13th Five Year Plan” on the development of national energy storage industry was held at Tsinghua University. Experts have fully discussed 7 major topics and 33 subtopics on technologies, development objectives, tasks, and overall arrangement of energy storage industry.


    Aiming at the cost dilemma happened in the scale development of energy storage industry, Sui Yanbo, deputy general manager of Sacred Sun, has indicated that FCP lead carbon batteries could improve the development of energy storage industry with its advanced technology and less cost per kw.h.

    Sacred Sun has brought in advanced FCP lead carbon battery technology from Japanese company Furukawa Battery Co., Ltd. in 2014. Such kind of battery possesses advantages such as superlong service life, better charge acceptance, excellent PSOC property, modularized system design and installation, etc.
    At last, Mr. Sui said that Sacred Sun is willing to cooperate with experts responsible for the major research projects of “13th Five Year Plan” on the development of energy storage industry, and make greater contributions to the energy revolution of our country.

The World is Entering “Aluminum” Battery Era

Recently, ChineseAmerican scientist Dai Hongjie has developed a high- performance aluminum battery which is suitable for commercial applications. Smartphones with such kind of batteries can be fully charged within 1 minute and without capacity loss within 7500 chargedischarge cycles. On the strength of its faster charging, longer service life, and lower cost, it is very possible for aluminum batteries to replace Lithium-ion batteries and alkaline batteries in the future.
    In the past decades, researchers are always trying to develop economical aluminum batteries, but appropriate positive materials and electrolyte materials are too difficult to find.
    In accordance with the report from American’s Science Daily website on April 6, negative electrode (aluminum material), positive electrode (graphite), and electrolyte (ionic liquid) of aluminum battery are placed in a soft bag made of aluminum foil and covered by flexible macromolecules.

     “This newly developed rechargeable aluminum battery is much safer than traditional Li-ion battery. Li-ion battery has the risk of explosion, while aluminum battery is safe on this aspect. In addition, to fully charge a smartphone with Li-ion battery, several hours are needed, while for smartphone with aluminum battery, one minute is enough.”
    Compared with the service life of other aluminum batteries (approximately 100 charge-discharge cycles) and Li-ion batteries (approximately 1000 charge-discharge cycles), the service life of this new aluminum battery (7500 charge-discharge cycles without capacity loss) is really amazing.
    Another distinguishing characteristic of this new aluminum battery is its flexibility, which enables it to be applied on flexible electronic instruments. Cheaper, safer, greener, and more flexible, this aluminum battery is a perfect alternative for traditional alkaline batteries and li-ion batteries.
    The only deficiency of this new aluminum battery is its voltage, which is only half of traditional li-ion batteries. Dai Hongjie planned to improve its voltage and energy density through improving the performance of positive materials.
